SPRINGFIELD, PA- In an action packed 12 game slate on Tuesday afternoon, Ridley certainly made it exciting, waiting until the final inning to take the lead.

Jake Mansfield finished what he started Tuesday afternoon as he threw seven innings, allowing four hits, three walks, and doing it all while only striking out one.

Springfield took the early lead in the bottom of the second from a Shane McCafferty RBI single. Springfield’s Jack Rae had Ridley on shutdown through the first three innings, until John Teehan drove in a run to tie the game 1-1.

Rae ended up going six strong, five hits, two runs, and four strikeouts.

This game was turning out to be a pitchers duel, as no runs were scored until the sixth inning, where Sean McMenamin gave Springfield the lead, 2-1 heading into the top of the seventh.

But, Ridley wasn’t going down easy. Ridley loaded the bases with no outs for Bobby Doherty. Doherty was plunked to tie the game. Mansfield wanted the win, as he walked to give Ridley a 3-2 lead with still no outs. Aiden Wong then doubled to give Ridley some insurance, making it 5-2.

Brendan Soper grounded out to drive in another, making it 6-2 with Mansfield going for the complete game.

Mansfield sat Springfield down 1-2-3 to secure the complete game W. This game had some late inning theatrics from Ridley, as they rallied late to help Mansfield get the complete game win.

Denny Monastra was credited with the loss for Springfield.

Ridley moves to 4-5 on the year in the Central League and will face Marple Newtown (5-4 in Central League) on Wednesday at home at 3:45.

Springfield falls to 1-8 in the Central League and will play at Lower Merion (6-3) on Wednesday.
