HAVERTOWN, PA- Is Jimmy Boyle perhaps the best pitcher in Delco? He certainly puts up a strong case every time he steps on the bump.

For two of the best offenses in the Central League, a pitchers duel certainly wasn’t what we were expecting. Pitching fanatics, this game is for you.

All three pitchers who entered today’s game were nothing short of great. For Conestoga, Luke Hunter got the start. He went five innings, two hits, zero earned runs, and four strikeouts. He was pulled in the sixth for Ryan Bauer, who threw a scoreless inning in relief.

For Haverford, the ace of the rotation, Jimmy Boyle, took the bump and impressed yet again for his THIRD complete game of the year! He allowed only hits and struck out 15 of the 23 batters he faced. He picked up the win, making him 7-0 on the year with a 1.20 ERA.

All it took was one singular inning for the Fords to get the two runs they needed to win. After Shane Durkan and Nick Elvanian reached with one out in the fourth, Cam McCormack drove in Durkan on a fielders choice to put the Fords up 1-0. Rocco Kelleher then drove in McCormack on an error, giving some insurance for Haverford, 2-0.

That was all it took, as Boyle finished what he started by setting down the Pioneers in the top of the seventh to secure a win.

Conestoga falls to 8-6 in the Central League, but will still make the playoffs, but hosting is still up in the air. Stoga will take on Garnet Valley in a makeup game on Thursday before they wrap up the season at home against Upper Darby on Monday at 3:45 looking to keep improving their playoff seed.

Haverford moves up to 14-1 in the Central League, and still in first in a tight race with Radnor. Haverford has one more Central League matchup to try and at least guarantee a conference title split. They will face Ridley (5-9 in CL) away on Monday at 3:45.

The Central League is coming down to the wire between Haverford and Radnor, with Haverford up by 0.5 games with Radnor still having to make up their postponed against Harriton (retroactive to Monday). Haverford is sitting at 14-1 with one game remaining in Central League play, Radnor is 13-1 with two games left in the Central League. It’d take one loss from either team to swing the momentum in the other’s favor. If both finish 15-1 in the Central League, even with Haverford having the head to head advantage, they would split the Central League title (which is pretty stupid).
