ROSEMONT, PA- Radnor looked a lot like the 2019 Twins with all the homers they hit tonight
Radnor wins the makeup of Mondays rain-out against Harriton to tie things up at the top of the Central League with Haverford as both teams are now 14-1 with one game to go.
Radnor started this game off with a bang, as with two outs in the first, Matthew Szychulski walloped a homer to put Radnor up 1-0 early on.
Austin Havertine then trotted out to the bump and proceeded to strike out the side to help Radnor maintain the lead.
Both Radnor and Harriton were held scoreless in the second inning.
In the top of the second, Radnor hung up another crooked number. After Teddy Monohan doubled with one out in the inning, Zach Fein blasted a homer to drive him in and put Radnor up 3-0 after the top of the third.
Ryan McWilliams took over for Havertine in the third inning after the resumption of the game on Thursday, and picked up right where Havertine left off, setting down Harriton in order on nine pitches. Havertine’s final line is two innings pitched, no hits, and four strikeouts.
Radnor didn’t score again until the sixth inning, where as a team, blasted their third homer of the game, as Evan Hartman swatted one of his own to extend the lead to 4-0. Kyle Miltenburger and Joe Krasowski followed this up with back to back base hits. Miltenburger then scored on an error to make it 5-0.
McWilliams finished his night by striking out the side. His final line was four innings pitched, two hits, one walk, and six strikeouts as he takes home the win.
In the top of the seventh, the Raptors tacked on a few more. With two men on base and no outs in the inning, Szychulski was at the dish when Monohan scored on a passed ball to make it 6-0. two more walks and another fielders choice later, it was all Radnor as they lead 8-0.
In the bottom of the seventh, Blake Havertine entered the game and struck out the side to finish it off, giving Radnor a big win to tie things up with Haverford at the top of the Central League.
Harriton falls to 5-10 in the Central League and 5-10 overall, but still a big improvement after last seasons 3-13 finish. They will play an out of conference game on Friday at home against Central Bucks West (14-7) at 4:00 if the weather allows it.
Radnor moves up to 14-1 in the Central League, tying them at the top. They will play away at Malvern Prep (18-5) on Saturday at 11:00 AM. But their next, and last, Central League game is on Monday at home against Penncrest (4-11 in CL) at 4:15.
The Central League is coming down to the wire between Haverford and Radnor, with both teams having just one game left in Central League play, with Haverford playing Ridley on Monday, and Radnor playing Penncrest on Monday. Will Ridley or Penncrest play spoiler, or will Haverford and Radnor split the division title? (They should do a playoff, but hey, I don’t organize this stuff)
