SPRINGFIELD, PA — Harriton needed someone to step up after they lost their last four Central League games following an opening day win. Sam Bohnenkamp was that guy today.

The Harriton starter went the distance today and struck out nine as Harriton took down Springfield by a 3-2 final. It always feels like a close game when these two play.

Springfield drew first blood in this game when Jake Lennon hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first. Harriton answered right back off of starter TJ Velletti when Hudson Weissman reached on an error and Cole Chodkowski scored after reaching on an error.

Fast forward to the top of the third and Harriton loaded the bases with no outs on a Bryce Siegel single, a Nate Swalley walk, and a single from Chodkowski, Hudson Weissman came up big with an RBI single, and Colin Sullivan would pick up a sac fly.

Springfield would get one back on an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth by Nick Russo, but that is as close as they would get as Sam Bohnenkamp was in control. Danny Meakim made things interesting with a two-out single in the seventh, but Bohnenkamp picked up a strikeout on his 90th pitch to wrap up the win.

Harriton gets back in the win column and they are now 2-4 in the Central League. They will have a non-conference game against Archbishop Wood on Friday.

As for Springfield, they sit at 0-4 in the Central League and will have a non-conference game as well on Thursday against Kennett.
